About the Artist
Born in the year 2000, Ren D’Angelo is a lifelong artist who has explored many creative crafts, ultimately focusing over the past four years on landscape painting in gouache. Gouache is an opaque, water-based paint known for its rich, vibrant pigments, a medium that perfectly suits Ren’s bold yet intimate interpretations of place. Living in Ojai, California—where he grew up—Ren draws constant inspiration from the surrounding hills, light, and natural rhythms, and gravitates toward creative activities that allow for hands-on expression and thoughtful observation of the world around him.
Largely self-taught, Ren has also briefly studied at Otis College of Art & Design in Los Angeles and Ventura Community College. He has been mentored by highly respected local artists and has participated in workshops throughout the county, further shaping his artistic practice. Ren occasionally teaches classes on painting Ojai-inspired landscapes in gouache, sharing both technique and a deep appreciation for the local environment.
